Solo show at Cross-linx

I'll be presenting my first-ever solo show at pioneering Dutch festival Cross-linx this year as part of their Music Mining program. The show is a new 20 minute piece for drum kit and monophonic analog synthesizer, accompanied by 4 backing tracks for the same setup. I'll play it 3 times per night in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven. Other acts this year include Daniel Wohl, Stargaze, Hooverphonic, and Poliça. Head to the Cross-linx site for more info.

Analog Intelligence with PSYO

This March I will join the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (led by Roger Kalia) to premiere my new work Analog Intelligence, an orchestral reworking of 'Dubstep', 'IDM', and 'Drum 'n' Bass' from my Dance Suite in G. Their principal percussionist and I will be downstage, far-right and far-left, to give a more 'close-miked' sound and to play with some stereo echo effects. See more details under Events.

Single Release

Excited to announce our first single release as Bow Hammer Connection: 'Dubstep' from my Dance Suite in G for violin, drum kit, and sound design. It's a 21st Century dance suite, equally inspired by James Blake and J.S. Bach. Get it on iTunes here, or search for 'bow hammer connection' at your digital music outlet of choice.

Carillon + Rooftop Percussion

As part of an exhibition celebrating Dutch sculptor Auke de Vries's 80th birthday, Slagwerk Den Haag asked me to compose a new work based on one of Auke's concepts: a conversation between the bells of a carillon and elevated percussionists. If you have ever wondered how crash cymbals sound 30 meters high in the middle of a city, now's your chance to find out. Come hear the premiere of From the Asphalt to the Spires by SDH and The Hague's virtuosic carillonneur Gijsbert Kok this June. See Events for performance details.

Five World Premieres

This May the Edge Ensemble will premiere five freshly commissioned works inspired by games and human play. The new pieces from Genevieve Murphy, Ethan Braun, Christopher Fox, Harry Stafylakis, and myself each showcase five deeply personal interpretations. From the financial games of Goldman Sachs, to a composer joining us on stage playing bagpipes, this program expresses the diversity and profundity of play in the human experience. Magical Quest review @ Cultuurpers

Thea Derks -- Music journalist and biographer of Reinbert de Leeuw -- reviewed two concerts at the Cello Biënalle Amsterdam for Cultuurpers, including the premiere of my new fantasy-themed, A1-paper-sized game-piece Magical Quest for the Hidden Armor. Read the original Dutch review here, or brave the Google-translated English version here.

Music For Bars on tour

In collaboration with Slagwerk Den Haag and Club Guy & Roni's Poetic Disasters Club, Music for Bars begins a 10-bar tour around the Netherlands this Autumn. The production is a 60-minute amplification of sonic, physical, and social elements of The Bar. It combines composed, improvised, and curated works for 3 percussionists, 3 dancers, and a backing track, all of whom explore and break the boundaries of "normal". Check the SDH Facebook Events page for upcoming performance dates.

Featured Composer @ Donemus

Donemus Publishing will take over publication of most of my concert music, and has added me to their roster of Featured Composers. It's an honor to be joining a list that includes composers Jacob TV, Martijn Padding, Guus Janssen, and Yannis Kyriakides.
