AMBIENT ACOUSTIC weaves together newly composed music from Brendan Faegre with wildly creative acoustic arrangements of the infamous electronic music artist Aphex Twin. It was created in collaboration with the Dutch contemporary music group New European Ensemble, and features projections and light design by Jurjen Alkema (founding member of Blauwe Uur).
The setlist includes well-known Aphex Twin tracks such as Flim and Jynweythek Ylow alongside hidden gems like #2 from Selected Ambient Works Volume II. The original music from Brendan Faegre flows seamlessly between the Aphex Twin tracks, pulling the electronic genre somehow towards both a more classical- and a more rock-infused soundworld.
The project premiered to a sold-out crowd at the TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, performed at the Boring Festival in Haarlem, and will continue performances into next season.
